The challenge
SurveillanceGrid supports a city’s camera network of more than 500 devices. Cameras and radios dropped offline with no clear explanation, and every wireless link ran at 40–60 ms, which hurt camera performance across the city.
The team’s SNMP tools could confirm that something was down, but not why. Engineers spent their time chasing symptoms, and taking the service to new cities was risky without a reliable way to check device health.
The solution
SurveillanceGrid deployed the eyeOT platform on the city network. Within minutes, eyeOT flagged a misaligned antenna on one radio, the source of the 40–60 ms latency.
- Auto-discovery built a live inventory of 500+ radios, switches and cameras
- Real-time monitoring of device health across the network
- Engineers isolate problem devices, like a radio that keeps dropping, instead of chasing “down” alerts

- Latency cut by 80%. From 40–60 ms to under 10 ms across nearly every link, and it stayed stable.
- Full visibility of 500+ devices. Radios, switches and cameras in one live inventory.
- Faster root-cause detection. Problem devices are isolated quickly instead of chased.
- More cities, no added headcount. SurveillanceGrid has rolled eyeOT out at more municipalities.
